AM I ASLEEP WHEN I’M IN HYPNOSIS?
Even though the word “hypnosis” comes from the greek word meaning “sleep”, you are fully awake when you are in hypnosis. You are totally aware of everything around you. The truth is, hypnosis is very similar to mediation. You can hear everything, you can open your eyes, and you can speak.

WHAT DOES BEING IN HYPNOSIS FEEL LIKE?
Hypnosis is a natural state. It’s that feeling that you pass through right when you wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night. Tomorrow when you wake up notice how nice that feeling is…you know…that hazy feeling you experience between your sleep state and awake state.

Hypnosis is described as a state of “focused concentration”. You may have experienced this while watching a movie and not being aware of the people around you.

Sometimes people experience “Highway Hypnosis” too. This occurs when you are driving and realize that you haven’t remembered the past few miles.

CAN I GET STUCK IN HYPNOSIS?
No. You can open your eyes at any time.

WILL I REMEMBER THINGS WHEN I OPEN MY EYES?
Yes. If you want to.

CAN YOU MAKE ME REVEAL ANY SECRETS WHEN I’M IN HYPNOSIS?
No. The US Government tried this. It didn’t work.

CAN YOU TAKE CONTROL OF MY MIND AND MAKE ME DO THINGS I DON’T WANT TO?
No. If I could, I would have hypnotized my children years ago to happily clean their rooms every day. I tried. It didn’t work.

CAN EVERYONE BE HYPNOTIZED?
Young children, people high on drugs or alcohol, and those with developmental disabilities are not good candidates for hypnosis.

HOW CAN HYPNOSIS HELP ME?
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy have been proven to help people to stop smoking easily, lose weight, improve sports performance, eliminate fears and get over shyness and anxiety about speaking in public. If it begins in your mind, then hypnosis can help.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I’M A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR HYPNOSIS?
Good question. As long as you want to experience hypnosis, you will.

IS THERE ANY RESEARCH ABOUT HYPNOSIS?
I’m glad you asked. There are over 5,000 research studies on the subject. Just put the word “hypnosis” on a google search. For the best research check out Stanford University and Harvard University research.
